To grey or not to grey....

That is the question.

I have colored my hair for many years now and when I am negligent (or too busy) to make a hair appointment and my roots grow out some, it is very evident just how much there is now.

I have to admit, for grey hair, it's not bad.  It's a nice silver but it is heavier in some spots than others.  Not yet nice and silver all over so I keep vacillating about whether to just go grey or keep coloring.

I have to admit, I like myself better as a brunette.  It's fun to get highlights and to keep seeing a version of myself in the mirror that more closer matches my youth.  I'm still very young in my heart, but body just betrays me at times.

I don't really have to pay big bucks for the coloring...that might become a tie-breaker.  I have a family member who works at a very nice local salon and has put me on a list of clients she can attend to for free, I just pay her a healthy tip and we are both happier for it.

It's just the constant battle with the roots and my schedule.  And the wondering if my hair shouldn't match my age, you know?

And the trying to figure out HOW to grow it out without it looking really weird.  A skunk stripe that gets wider and wider.  I can't hide out for the next year while going through the transition.

I'm in a field where I deal with young women and families.  Would they relate better to someone who looks a bit younger or someone who exudes the feeling of wisdom and experience?

Either way, tomorrow afternoon I will be covering the roots yet again and getting some more highlights.  The debate within still rolls along unanswered.

You may weigh in on the debate.  My roots want to know....

IMO (I love to share my opinion) let it go grey. Your stylist can recommend how to transition to natural over time without looking like it's growing out. Roots are a pain, and look neglected, much better to look clean and natural and have one less thing to fuss after. NOW, there are color conditioners, one is made by AVEDA, and it can put a little color in whenever you shower.
