A few sunny days and a baby

So since moving to the Atlanta area I have realized it rains a lot here.  So much so that I count sunny days rather than rainy days.

Today is sunny.  Sunny is good.  My muddy back yard is grateful too.

Helped a couple give birth at home for the first time this week.  First baby was in the hospital and wasn't a good experience for her.  They had a very large finished basement room right off the driveway that was just perfect for the birth room.  The door arrangement made it easy to bring in equipment.  It was carpeted and the room was HUGE!  Bathroom right off the main room.  They had set up the pool there and the laundry room was nearby making filling the pool with hot water easy.  They had set up a card table with 4 chairs which made charting and finding a place to put water bottles a breeze too.  The entire front of the room was two large bow windows with a long seat.  Made setting up birth trays and equipment so accessible.

Mom started off in the pool but later birthed in a squatting position over a vinyl/felt backed tablecloth.  Little boy, 7 lb 4 oz who was welcomed by his family with great joy.  Cutie patootie!

Now I am waiting on one who was due yesterday and another who is due tomorrow.

May they both be born on a sunny day as long as they aren't the same day....
