It's starting to come together

Next Friday morning (27th), I'm asking for prayer for this tired old brain. I will taking taking a clinical skills exam for my midwifery certification. When I sent in my application, you had to have documented 45 full pages of skills...where you acquired each and every one of them in detail. Now, they are preparing a package which will be sent to a 'qualified examiner' and I won't know which skills I will be tested on, I just have to be prepared for it to be any number of hundreds to choose from. I have to bring with me an expectant mother at least 28 weeks along and an infant not over 6 weeks old. They will be the live models I must demonstrate the skills on, though they don't require anything of an invasive nature. I have a looooong list of supplies I must bring along to use and I have all that in place, just don't have the mom and baby lined up yet.

I know all the skills, it's just that they must be performed an exact way, in an exact order and you must verbalize everything you do, everything you find, what you are looking for and that you would document your findings. That is more intimidating than you would think.

If (when!) I pass this portion, they will allow me to sit for the 8 hour written exam in August up in Nashville, TN. If I pass that also, I will FINALLY have achieved a goal of many years.

Finishing something, a certification that means a ton to me.

So, a little prayer for my brain to remember the right words and procedures next Friday morning would really be appreciated about now.

In other news, I'm enjoying a relatively quiet month, as both of my May babies have already arrived. This has allowed me to spend some time with both of my daughters and grandchildren. I'm in heaven!

Praying that you do well. I know you will. My friend Lisa will be 28 weeks next week. She may be willing to be your practice person. She's in your area.

Mrs. Brenda,
When! you pass and come to Nashville for the test, please look me up. You have a free place to stay anytime. Plus, I'll be about 7 months pregnant with twins, so I'm sure I'll need to pick your brain:)

Good luck!

Twins?? I had no idea Denise! But congratulations, that is both amazing and awesome. Going to probably stay in a hotel overnight before the exam because they recommend it. You are usually very nervous and wanted to study up to the last minute and they know you will need a good night's sleep. Will scout out the location of the test site the day before so getting there won't be stressful the morning of testing. But now afterwards....might be a different story!

I can't imagine that your practical and test would go any way but smoothly - this is your life! I think the things that really drive us come easiest. Trust in yourself and everything will come naturally.
