Birthday!

This weekend (Sunday) is my youngest granddaughter, Lucy's, very first birthday! We are going to celebrate it today with lunch at her house and hopefully some party time at a nearby park. The darkening skies overhead are trying to tell a different story, but we're hoping it holds off until after we see Lucy open presents and get covered with icing and cake.

Kayla is spending the weekend at a ladies retreat and wanted to make our family's fav cinnamon rolls to take. The last few batches she made did not rise, so she asked me if I could come help her make a batch to take with her to the retreat. Torture! I'm eating gluten free now and almost found myself ready to lick my fingers before I remembered that wasn't a good idea. This batch rose perfectly and looked delish! Luke was keeping all three children for the weekend and I asked him if I could take at least one of them home since we were all going to the party today and I could return said child at that time. So he sent Noah home with me.

I took Noah to a ChikFilA playground first, then drove home where we played for a while. Then Tom and I took him to our favorite Mexican restaurant where he was given a large balloon tied to a small package of Teddy Grahams to weigh it down. He ate his whole quesadilla and some chips, colored in everything on his paper kids menu and decided he needed to take his crayons home in his pocket. He colored me a picture of himself when we got home. But the funny thing was on the way home he requested the window to be down. We complied with the window about half way and Noah had his balloon between himself and the window. Here is a video of what happened next...

I wish you could have heard his little boy giggles though....

So, bathtime and a few cartoons in bed and he did just fine for the night. Pancakes for breakfast and now we need to think about getting ready for Lucy's party.

I'm loving living here nearby.
