Not visiting

Ever since we moved our home to Atlanta, back last fall, I've only been able to be here for short visits. Even though it was my home I never really unpacked or got terribly relaxed because I was always here for a quick visit to see clients and run back to south Georgia before the next baby came.

So, now I'm here. Really here. Unpacked my suitcase here. Hubby is bringing a UHaul full of my belongings tomorrow and I will be able to unpack it and put away the rest of my belongings and be HOME. I think it is going to take me a while before I quit feeling like this is a visit and it really dawns on me that I don't live in south Georgia any longer.

Good news: Today as I was packing up my last belongings to drive up I got an email from a young lady that I had spent some time talking to on Saturday afternoon. She was going to pray about taking my practice and the present and upcoming clients in south Georgia. The thought of leaving an entire half of a state without a midwife had weighed heavy on my heart. But Melissa wrote me this morning that after talking with all her loved ones and spending some time in prayer, she feels this is the right time and place for her. I am ecstatic!

In the morning, my son Matt, continues his "Trek for Hope" across America. You can read his blog by clicking on it in the right sidebar of my page here. He is very passionate about raising funds for the Special Operations Warrior Foundation and has committed a year of his life to walking from Tampa-Atlanta-LA and back again on foot with no escort, just his ruck sack, tent and sleeping bag. I'm glad he and his dad came down to help me load everything up and he kept me company on the drive up this morning. Check out his blog and read his stories. It will encourage you that our world isn't as crazy as we think and that there are still good people out there, everywhere you look.
